Every time I go to the park, I walk past this tree; it fascinates me. It’s leaning, obviously bent by strong force winds. We’ve had many storms blow through and yet, it still stands. I wonder how long it’s been that way. I wonder what weather incident caused it; I wonder why it hasn’t fallen.
The tree reminds me of some precious people I know. They’ve been pushed far beyond what was thought humanly possible by circumstances, heartbreaks, and obstacles that may have literally taken the life out of others. Yet, they stand, weathered and perhaps a little bent but they still stand and still do what God’s called them to do.
May we all be like this tree. We get repositioned and may even think we’ll fall under the pressure of what life brings our way and though bended, we still stand. Even in an awkward, unnatural state, God still uses us for His glory. You’re still strong; I’d say stronger in faith than you were before what bent you happened. You’re still standing. Make it count.
“..We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed…” 2nd Corinthians 4:8-9
